Having Maja also both a wine connoisseur and a native Slovenian was a great benefit because she was able to teach us basics about the wines and foods themselves, serve as language interpreter when needed, and give us access to intimate parts of her country and culture. This is simply not something you get to experience as an independent traveler to a foreign country. I haven’t stopped talking about this trip since I returned months ago.
